Heated entry floor

Heating cable under large-format tile.

Entry with large light grey floor tile, baseboards and a metal transition to a plank floor

The heating cable runs in loops through a studded membrane, which holds it at an even spacing and helps protect the tile from small movement in the subfloor. The cable is left ready for the electrician to connect. There was snow outside the door while this entry was being tiled.

Large light grey tile goes over the top, laid square to the door so the joints run straight into the house. Where the tile meets the plank floor next to it, a slim metal strip finishes the edge.
